The Pain Cycle by Anna Gibson, LMT, CPEP

The Pain Cycle

The first statement I would strongly like to emphasize is “Pain is NOT Normal”! Pain has many causes that result from injury, poor posture, chronic fatigue, stress and depression. Many of which most Americans acquire today due to there overactive and demanding lifestyles.

Now, I would like to go into further detail about pain and its cycle. In trying to avoid pain, many people may over use certain muscles, while neglecting other muscles. When most individuals feel pain it is their automatic response to train their body to move in a direction that doesn’t cause pain. As a result of this pattern, the pain will eventually be worsened due to how the individual trained their body to respond.

In conclusion, the basis of the pain cycle is an unstable motion and poor posture that position your muscles into distress and joints resulting in possible injury. Over time using inefficient patterns begins to weaken the body and increase further side effects such as osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and recurring injury.
