Yoga for Stress Relief

The changing economy has many of us walking around with a shadow looming over us. It seems to take a lot of effort and consciousness to do our daily tasks.

Over 5000 years ago, people began to practice physical yoga in order to help quiet their minds and prepare them for a state of deep relaxation. In this relaxation, a certain calm and blissfulness arises. In many cases, it is not “emptying the mind”, but rather creating a sense of heightened awareness and sensitivity. If you struggle to accept loss and begin to feel the need to return to normalcy, look at seeking new and different approaches.

Yoga has all components to help relax the body, slow down the internal processes, and soothe the nervous system. With this strong foundation it is easier to accomplish the difficult tasks ahead.

The word YOGA means “union” – a union of breath, mind, and spirit. Just as America as a country unites, perhaps it’s a good time for us to unite within ourselves as well.
